questions you may have

Prior to your appointment, you will be requested to complete an intake packet online with questions related to your interest and goals in seeking therapy. This information will be reviewed in detail during our first appointment to get a clear idea of how to structure our work together. We will also discuss your family history and relationships, as well as any major events that have occurred over the years. The first appointment is similar to an “information-gathering” appointment and will feel somewhat different than how the actual process of therapy feels. Because so much information is gathered in this first visit, the initial appointment lasts 60 minutes, whereas typical appointments are around 53-55 minutes

While anxiety and depression are common entry points, therapy often addresses the deeper roots of human experience. We can work with a wide range of concerns, including trauma, grief, eating issues, relationship patterns, life transitions, perfectionism, and compulsive behaviors. If you are curious about a specific concern not listed, we can discuss it during a consultation to see if my approach is the right fit for your needs.

Due to state licensing regulations, therapy can only be provided to individuals who are physically located in Pennsylvania at the time of the session. However, coaching services are not bound by the same state-line restrictions, allowing for more flexibility if you are seeking a coaching-based relationship rather than clinical psychotherapy

The length of treatment varies from person to person. However, due to the specialized nature of our practice, clients tend to make more meaningful change in a shorter amount of time than they report from previous therapy experiences. When necessary, we can also coordinate care with other providers in the community that may enhance the therapeutic process.

Therapy is a collaborative process and requires honest, open communication and good rapport in order to be truly effective. I value feedback and feel it is important for you to tell me both what works and what doesn’t work for you. Therapy may also encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone during sessions. It is important for you to try new things and take an active role in your therapy if you want to see true and lasting results. Attending appointments regularly and being on time will also help in getting the most out of your therapy.

Yes, we believe in making therapy accessible while maintaining a sustainable practice. The standard self-pay rate is $150, but we offer a limited number of sliding scale slots for those experiencing financial hardship, navigating high-deductible insurance plans, or facing temporary life transitions. These slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and we can discuss your specific needs during our initial consultation.

Though they can look similar on the surface, they serve different functions:
Therapy: Focuses on healing, resolving past trauma, and managing clinical mental health conditions. It is a regulated healthcare service provided by a licensed professional.
Coaching: Tends to be more present- and future-oriented. It focuses on setting goals, improving performance, and creating actionable strategies for specific life areas without diagnosing or treating mental illness.
-
While both are goal-oriented, they have different centers of gravity.
Life Coaching: Broadly focuses on personal growth, career, and optimizing your general life path.
Recovery Coaching: Specifically supports individuals navigating addiction or major life setbacks. It provides specialized accountability, relapse prevention strategies, and a focus on maintaining a sustainable, healthy lifestyle during the transition out of active struggle.
